The
Data Analysis for Instructional Leaders (DAFIL) online training
provides participants with skills and knowledge in using the results
of screening, diagnosis, progress monitoring, and outcome assessments
to guide instructional decision-making in grades K-12. Moreover,
participants will build skills and knowledge is using test results
for a variety of purposes -- differentiating instruction, flexible
grouping, and assessment-driven intervention, including the selection
of appropriate instructional strategies.
Specifically,
participants will be able to do the following by the end of the
training:
Apply
the components of the Assessment Framework: Screening, Diagnostic,
Progress Monitoring, and Outcome assessments.
Develop
technically sound written and alternative classroom and school-level
assessments.
Apply
a frame of reference for interpreting test scores and scores
commonly used in schools.
Analyze
data to identify trends that indicate progress in student
performance development, teacher effectiveness across performance
groups and curriculum strengths and weaknesses using scatter plots,
and other tools.
Interpret
data through graphic displays, descriptive statistics, and test and
item analysis.
Identify
the role of assessment in planning instruction to meet student
learning needs, in planning school level professional development;
in making school-wide curriculum decisions and in providing feedback
to teachers regarding the effectiveness of instruction.
Define
DART model and Curriculum mapping tools to interpret and analyze
assessment data to improve instruction and student performance.
Participants
will acquire the knowledge and skills to guide them in mapping the
curriculum and develop a focus calendar. This training provides the
basis for participants to analyze student data and to apply
assessment and data analysis skills to instruction, curriculum, and
professional development plans at their own schools.
Instructor
Information: This training is facilitated by online instructors
who are experienced instructional leaders possessing a wealth of
knowledge in data analysis and assessment. Additionally, online
instructors are effective mentors and possess the technical ability
to facilitate within an online environment.
Course
Requirements: In order to successfully complete the course,
participants must complete all assignments, and communicate regularly
online with classmates as well as the course instructor. To earn 20
inservice points, all assignments must be completed by the weekly due
dates of the course as outlined on the training schedule.
Inservice
Points: Upon successful completion of all assigned tasks, a
certificate of completion will be sent to you by email within two
weeks after the end date of the training. This certificate should be
turned in to your district staff development office to receive 20
inservice points for this training. Follow-up activities are
incorporated in the training and no additional work is needed in
order to receive inservice points.
Assignments:
Throughout this online class, assignments will be given such as
participating in a threaded discussion, creating a document, or
taking a quiz or survey. All assignments must be completed in order
for MIP points for inservice to be awarded.
Training
Schedule: Each week you will complete four to five lessons. All
assignments should be completed by the due date. Because we will be
using threaded discussions throughout this training, it is important
that you stay current with each week so we are able to communicate

Getting
Started: Three days
before the scheduled start date of the training, an email will be
sent to each participant with login information and directions for
accessing the ADAPT training through Blackboard, course management
system at http://bb.nefec.org/.
